Trash day, bulk pickup, leaf collection and drop-off dates · Lorain County · 2026 schedule, checked against the city's own notices on Thursday, October 29
City crews start collecting curbside leaves on Monday, October 26, 2026, and continue through December, weather permitting. They follow a route with no set day for any street, and a full route can take two to three weeks.
Now, through Thu, Dec 31 · Curbside leaf collection (weather permitting)
Leaves only (no branches, pumpkins or rocks), on the tree lawn: not in the street, on sidewalks or in cul-de-sacs.
Keep piles away from fire hydrants and catch basins, and don't park over a pile.
No yard waste from landscapers or tree contractors.
Kimble also takes leaves on trash day, March through December, in paper yard waste bags or a can marked YARD WASTE (33 gallons or less).
The city does not publish street-by-street progress.
Weekly on your area's day, Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. The city's collection day map shows each area's day. Every home gets a 96-gallon cart from the city's contract with Kimble.
Weekly, Monday to Thursday by area (see the city's map)
Carts at the curb by 7 a.m. They can go out after 5 p.m. the day before and must come in within 24 hours.
Keep carts 2 to 3 feet from the curb, handles away from the street, and 3 feet from other carts, mailboxes and trees.
Recycling goes loose in the cart, never in plastic bags: paper, cardboard, cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles and jugs with lids on.
Holidays: no service on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas, and all service is delayed one day. The city does not list the 2026 dates.
Not taken: tires, batteries, car parts, paint, oil, fluorescent bulbs, propane tanks or other hazardous waste.
On your regular collection day, March 1 through December 31.
Now, through Thu, Dec 31 · Yard waste season
Brown paper yard waste bags (14 to 16 per home), a can marked YARD WASTE of 33 gallons or less, or a free Kimble yard waste cart (call Kimble; it comes with a bill credit).
Brush and small trimmings year round: under 6 inches across, no longer than 4 feet, bundled and tied, under 50 pounds.
City chipper trucks pick up larger branches and shrubs, following a route with no set day; a full route can take two to three weeks. There is no chipping during leaf and snow seasons, because the same trucks carry the leaf and plow equipment.
Cut ends toward the curb, and nothing but branches in the pile.
