Curb Tracker

About

It started with one leaf pile.

Tim lives in North Olmsted, Ohio. Every fall the city posts a PDF listing which streets the leaf trucks have finished, and every fall he squinted at it trying to work out whether they had been down his street yet. So he turned the list into a map: green where the trucks are done, yellow where they are working now.

Once the map existed, the rest of the curb calendar seemed worth gathering too. Trash day and the holiday weeks that push it back. Bulk pickup and what counts as an item. The week the brush chipper comes. The few days a year the city takes paint and pool chemicals. Cities publish all of it. It is just spread across mailers, PDFs and pages that are hard to find when you need them.

A Woodshack side project

Curb Tracker is a side project from Woodshack. Woodshack is Tim and Jason: two people who look after websites and the systems behind small businesses, connect tools that don't talk to each other, and build what's missing. Hard problems, small shop.

Nobody paid for this one. Tim built it because he wanted it for his own town, and because making things is the fun part. If you run a business or a nonprofit and have a problem shaped like this one (information that exists but is a pain to use), that is the day job.
